>> o, woe is me, to have seen what i have seen,
see what i see!
(hamlet: III, i)

come see how i have changed over the years (at least in hairstyles?) but oh, truly, how at heart, i have not! and really, sometimes i think our personalities just emerge from a true source or kernel of being that has always been hidden....i don't know if you can spot it in me. but all i know is, i've had a ridiculous life, and every year... (maybe always, but i truly trace it since 1999 - age 14) ...has been better than the last. i'm not posting past senior year & pre-college summer here, because there are a ridiculous number of pictures of me & my freshmonsters on the peekaboo page.
more pictures from my high school adventure/events can be found in my livejournal memories >> yonder.
and there are even vintage picture-posts just of me & my sister, too >> un :: deux.

une grande collection d'images de moi. 4 ans (1988) -- 18 ans (2003/4)

the jew-fro years...
L-R :: - 4 in montessori school (early rainbow clue, no?)
- on m'sister jessica who was on the playroom swing (how i miss it!)
- jess manhandling me at the beach
- jess & me on curiculum night of 2nd grade
(a native american history unit costume/presentation night! i had my first cast on my left arm)

lower schoo'
L-R :: - 1994, 3rd grade class trip to a classmate's revolutionary war era farmland w/ pool (yep. private school much?)
- my 3rd grade class picture (so much hair i had to wear a ponytail AND a headband. and boy did i get made fun of)
- my 4th grade class picture (i always wore classical music/concert-related shirts from my dad)
- me age 10, my first sleepaway camp adventure. 1 week session at camp friendship. where i would continue to go for a few more years.

middling school
L-R :: - probably 7thgradeish, at the aeroport, using the infamous inherited from jess army bag purse i still use
- my 13th birthday party, i was a recovering fake teenybopper desperate for the BSB crowd & alterna crowds both to accept me. *doh*
- me, early summer 99, age 14, looking like a 'cool' american girl...
- and me a few weeks later, gone 'totally retro' (& purple streaked) courtesy of (s)'explo-ration summer program @wellesley college
- and, later still that summer during my photo-class in DC - being a meat-hating greenie. the summer i stopped brushing my hair.

fresh >> jun-yarrr years of high schoo' (here enter the dreadful locks)
L-R :: - the epitome of freshman!joanna, here shown on - freshman orientation day, aug. 99
(i still wear that bandana, & those love beads are quite broked from over-wear now)
- me, summer '01, post-sophomore year & after my euro-travel trip.
...papi-cat and i are posing shamelessly alike. and yes, behold my baby dreads all crunchy from the mediterranean. picture by kell.
- junior year. wing-ed & baubled...
- and pigtailed and peeking.

looking as i often did, like a rainbow threw up on me >> senior year.
mostly for the benefit of my college fiends who don't seem to realize...
as neat looking as they think i am...i used to look like even more of a circus attraction!
(not that i don't play dressup daily anymore. just, different-like-ly.)
- the first picture is of me, and my clone at the time, miss LUX! my fellow domainsharing wenchlove.

the always tongue in cheek...prom(enade) escapades. three times is, kinda charming?
idunno. my upperclass fiends always dragged me, and then i did the same. never with a serious date. it was always one big collective orgy.
without the 'orgy' persay.
L-R :: - sophomore prom, posing w/ alice (i wore a corset & red pop-out platform rollerskates & wristguards)
- junior prom, posing punks. with emma.
- senior prom
- senior prom again...
in my mum's 70's faerie-ful bridesmaid dress i altered, and cabaret girl headpiece i sewed.
here featured going to the prom glamorously on the DC metro w/ isabel & merper.
- afterprom silly

other highly, equally pertinent e-vents of senior year...
L-R :: - i dress as a wonky(bowie)(sex)kitten for halloween
- oh yeah, i gradu-ma-nate. ha.
after 13 years at georgetown day school. it was about time i got out.
i am the luckiest girl to have this ungod(ess)ly lovely gaggle of friends hugging me in congratulations.
this picture is one of my favourites from my high school experience.
