the site :: the site is named 'niblet' currentment, because it is only a bit or bite (or byte?) of a site, nothing too serious, but still a creation pieceling of mine. 'niblet' is a supposed brit-term of endearment i picked up from the sid vicious of the vampire world on the telly. it has also been a handle of mine on the 'net (once upon a time) under which i met my co-webmistress of this domain. i am also obsessed with words regarding edibles, or that end in -et, or are a bit menacing & endearing.

moi :: the name on my birth certificate is Joanna Miriam Lazar. i've gone by jojo online & in the "real world" since summer '01-ish. when i was very wee my grandpa Marty called me it, but no one else in the family really.

my friends at school affectionately referred to me as "Jo" and other variations in middle school, and by high school i merely started introducing myself as "jojo" as an invitation to be on friendly-ish terms with me if that makes any sense. it also i felt really suited me, as i was going through a re-creation of self. and the name fit. it's short, repetitive, and mildly obnoxious. it is also all lower case, thankee. as i find dotted j's quite pretty and i did it before i knew i'd love e.e. cummings, and i am far from minding that association either.

i'm reluctant to claim i will be jojo forever, as static personalities are impossible boring and very hard to maintain comfortably. some of my very favourite people are rather chameleonlike. for the first time in three years i'm enjoying being 'joanna' in some form or another occasionally. particularly because a fabulous boy named David likes to entertain my penchants, by pretending to be Jareth the Goblin King by always SING ING my name as, "jo-ANN-a!" with an inflection & impossibly hilarious accent and operatic inflection on the middle bit. the boy is nuts & kind.

i do truly adore my real name(s) when it includes my middle (hebrew) name or some puttering about with silly/fancy titles. Miriam was a righteous lady from the torah, and the sister of Moishe. she crossed the Red Sea first...i like to imagine doing a little bit of a belly dance, and maybe banging a tambourine. hee.
so i am also known here & there as: miss joanna miriam (my mother's pet name for me) or capt. lazarrr.
i'm also a big fan of madameoiselle or mlle. for short. i took french from 3rd to 12th grade. my fluency comes out randomly & frequently for shits and giggles.

my father and sister have 'J' names as well. makes for intersting times when things come mailed to the house labeled for J. Lazar. so we use initials a lot in in my home. with all of this dithering in mind, as i think about names a lot, because they are fun! they're like a strange piece of costume jewelry i throw on when i meet new folks and introduce myself. i'm just dithering about my thought process here, to stamp these pages with...

and there was a namebit. le fin.
